A set of six mid 20th century Venetian lanterns, in colourless glass with spiral ribbons of blue, red and pale green coloured glass ''a fasce ritorte'', designed by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini, Murano.

"A fasce ritorte" literally translates as "with twisted bands". Molten glass canes are applied in diagonal bands and twisted as the piece is blown, to create a spiral effect. Fulvio Bianconi (1915-1996) was born in Padua and became an illustrator and graphic designer, working for Pirelli, Pathe and Fiat. In 1947 he met Paolo Venini and became the artistic director of Venini, replacing Carlo Scarpa. He went on to design unique objects and vessels with the essence of a modern post-war Italy on a human scale.
