Literature
Stuart & Sons were based in Stourbridge along with other well-known glassmakers such as Stevens & Williams and Thomas Webb. The firm was founded by Frederick Stuart who began working at the age of 11 at the Redhouse Glassworks on the crystal mile in Stourbridge. Mills, Webb & Stuart was formed by 1853 and then it became an entirely Stuart family affair. Stuart Crystal went from strength to strength, even supplying glass to the ill-fated Titanic in 1912 and was finally bought by Waterford Wedgwood in 1995.
